What is ShopMeatBox?

ShopMeatBox is a company driven to provide top quality meat to our customers that is usually inaccessible to the public.  We carry meat that is high grade, free of fillers, and deliver it straight to your doorstep.  We are a company founded on the premise of cutting your grocery shopping trip in half and saving our customers from being disappointed in the meat that is available to them in stores.  We are a federally inspected company that is approved to sell across North America.  Unlike grocery stores or local stores, we purchase our meat from a meat purveyor who is able to age the product 6-8 weeks, guaranteeing you a premium product with tenderness and flavour.  We proudly source our meat from trusted network of farms who help us provide the top quality meat that we do.

ShopMeatBox focuses on the main component of your daily meals; meat.  We do not waste time specializing in other items and instead chose to master the quality of our meat.  Our products are high-grade, exclusive items that are not available in many places or stores.  You will be able to save significant time at the grocery store, only having to prepare sides or purchase accompanying items to pair beautifully with your meat order.  You are guaranteed to receive the best meats in Canada, and it is delivered straight to your door, whenever, wherever, at your own pace, and with liberty; What could be better?

Where do you deliver?

ShopMeatBox is a federally inspected company who is able to sell our products all across Canada but we only deliver across Ontario till further notice. We are working diligently to provide delivery across Canada very soon. We can’t wait for your order!

How does it work?

ShopMeatBox is an online subscription company run out of Toronto, Ontario.  You begin by selecting which products you would like in your Meat Box and we will ship these items directly to your door step.

What frequency do you recommend for getting a box?

You can get your order to arrive weekly, biweekly or monthly to ensure your products last you until your next order arrives based on space available in your freezer.  You can choose to skip, delay or change orders and order frequency at any point after your subscription/orders are placed.  

What are your prices comparable to?

We pride ourselves in carrying top quality meat at the best pricing possible. The quality of meat is that of the best Steakhouses in the city of Toronto, but at the reach of your own kitchen or grill, and delivered straight to your door.

How much meat comes in a box?

We have two box sizes, a regular and large size. The quantity of meat is dependant on what you order.

Is there a minimum order?

The minimum order is one meat box per order.

Are your products frozen?

Yes, our products are frozen for shipping purposes in order to ensure top quality and freshness upon arrival.

Where does ShopMeatBox source it’s meat?

We source our meat from various farms from Ontario, Alberta, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Are your products organic?

We do carry organic products.

Are your products Halal?

Yes we offer Certified Halal products. Check out our Certified Halal box!

Are your products Kosher?

No we do not offer Kosher products.

What are the different grades of beef?

We offer A, AA, AAA, US/choice, Canadian Prime, US Prime,
Australian Waygu and Japanese A5

Why is meat red in colour?

The red colour comes Myoglobin which is a richly pigmented protein.

What’s the difference between grass-fed and corn-fed beef?

Grass fed cattle are fed solely grass and finished on grass.

What are the animals fed?

The animals are fed a variety of foods ranging from grass, to grain and corn.

Where can I find the portion sizes?

You can find each portion size under each product in their “details”.  It will list the portion of the meat within this description on each product.

How many products come vac-packed per package? (by the pound unless otherwise noted)

All products are packaged by the pound unless otherwise noted. (Ex. 1lb ground beef, 1 chicken breast, 1 steak, etc.)

Are the chicken in cages?

No, all of our chickens are free range.

Why did the meat I receive not look like the photo on the website?

The meat you receive will be frozen, while our photos are taken of fresh product. Colour and cuts of meat may vary based on lighting, aging, sourcing and how it is butchered.  Please contact us if you are curious about the appearance of an item you have received.

How soon do I need to cook my meat? How long will it last in the freezer?

The meat can last in your freezer for approximately six months from the day of delivery but we recommend that you use the meat with in 4 weeks of delivery provided it’s kept frozen in a freezer.

How can I prepare the meat if I don’t have a grill?

You can pan sear, or use an oven or air-fryer to prepare your meat if you do not have access to a grill.

How do I check if ShopMeatBox delivers to my area?

ShopMeatBox is a federally inspected company who is able to sell our products all across Canada but we only deliver across Ontario till further notice. We are working diligently to provide delivery across Canada very soon. We can’t wait for your order!

Can it be delivered to my work, gym, etc?

Your meat box can be delivered to your most convenient location.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery is FREE Ontario-wide!

Can I choose a specific delivery date? What if I need to change my order or delivery date?

Order are delivered to your door every Wednesday. Orders need to be placed before Sunday at 11:59PM to be delivered same week. All orders placed after the cut off time will be delivered the following Wednesday.

Can I place an order for same day delivery?

No, unfortunately we do not offer same-day delivery.

How does ShopMeatBox ship and deliver meat?

With our own delivery service or through UPS services.

Do I have to be home to accept my delivery?

No, as the meat comes frozen in insulated boxes, but you should- especially in the warmer months collect them immediately once the delivery is completed.

What happens if I’m not home?

The box will be left outside your front door or concierge, the order is packaged in a 100% recyclable Biodegradable EPS Cooler with ice packs in the boxes. Once delivered, the box should be collected within 1-2 hours and placed in the freezer/fridge. For over 10 degree celsius or over 50 fahrenheit conditions we recommend the box to be collected as soon as possible.

What time will my order arrive?

We provide tracking with every order to check on the delivery status. All orders are delivered between 9AM-8PM.

How long will the box stay frozen for?

The box will stay frozen until 8PM on delivery day.

Can I receive a delivery if I live in a condo or apartment building?

Yes you can.  It can be delivered the same way as any other package you receive.

Who’s delivering my ShopMeatBox order?

Our own delivery service or UPS if outside of Ontario

Will I receive a tracking number?

Yes, tracking information will be emailed to you after the order is shipped.

Is the packaging recyclable?

Yes, your order is delivered in a 100% recyclable Biodegradable EPS Cooler.

How do I properly dispose of the ice packs?

They are biodegradable and can be emptied in the sink or reused.

My order has shipped, can I make a change?

No, you can make changes to your upcoming order up until Sunday at 11:59pm every week!

What is ShopMeatBox’s cancel/return/refund policy?

  • Once its past the cut off time on Sunday at 11:59pm and the payment is processed for Wednesday delivery there are no cancelations.
  • ShopMeatBox does not accept any returns.
  • Refunds are only applicable on manufacturer defaults only and ShopMeatBox needs proof for any matters.

How do I skip a box?

You can skip your next box anytime through your online account.

Can I change the contents of my box every month?

Absolutely, you can change the contents of your box for every order if you’d like! Just make sure to edit the contents of your box before your next cutoff day (Sunday at 11:59 PM).

How do I pause/cancel my subscription?

To pause/cancel, simply go to your online account, click “details” for your active subscription, then scroll to the bottom where you can pause or cancel your subscription.

Is there a cancellation fee?

There are no fees or penalties for cancelling provided the order is canceled/paused or skipped prior to the cutoff on Sunday 11:59pm.

How do I order a one-time box?

To order a one-time box, first click "Build Your Box " and  place your order. Once your box has been delivered you can pause or cancel the subscription to stop it from renewing. To cancel, simply go to your online account, click “details” for your active subscription, then scroll to the bottom where you can pause or cancel your subscription.

Where can I see my next billing date and shipping date?

You can check all the details about your next scheduled order under "My Account".

I forgot about my order and it has been billed!

It is your responsibility to check your account for upcoming billing dates, and to check your emails for a reminder email before your order is scheduled to be billed! You will receive a reminder email on Friday afternoon and again on Sunday afternoon before your order is scheduled to renew. You can make any necessary changes to your order or subscription before your order cutoff on Sunday 11:59pm.

How can I change my shipping address?

To change your shipping address, you can login to your account and click My Account then "Edit" under “Shipping Address”.

Can I put my order on hold for a few months?

Yes, you can put your orders on hold for as long as you need. You can do this through your account online.
